After 44 days in office Liz Truss eligible to collect a £115,000 allowance 

For the rest of her life despite her short stint as Prime Minister

The allowance from the government will reimburse Truss 

For expenses spent while maintaining public duties

Enacted in 1991, Truss becomes only the sixth Prime Minister to receive the lifelong allowance

To be eligible for the allowance only has to have been a former Prime Minister

The allowance has been frozen at £115,000 since 2011 and remains the same for 2022-2023
